Feeling Space and Time
Saturday, January 20th 2018, 11am-5pm

Understanding time and space in rhythmic structures can be challenging whether  we are experienced drummers or newer to the drum.  The space between the notes is the shortcut to “groove”, but we can’t manipulate or logic it into happening. The time or tempo brings another quality into playing—stimulating or soothing, cacophonous or synchronized.During our time together will investigate and experience how feeling in music is enhanced by enjoying and delighting in the spaces between the notes as much as the events of the notes themselves. We will see how certain tempos are ideal for some rhythms and not others.Be prepared to play simple rhythms, and experience how they can create cacophony or chorus, randomness or orchestration.
